The Bass River runs northeast between the towns of South Yarmouth and West Dennis. West Dennis Beach, which runs 1.5 miles from the right side of the Bass River inlet, is one of the best of the South Shore, and makes this a stopover for many boaters. In fact, small boats can tuck in comfortably at the base of the eastern breakwater. The beach is long, wide and sandy, and very popular with windsurfers. It’s a short walk into the town of South Yarmouth from the town landing on the west side of the river, and establishments along Main Street offer most of the amenities you may need for a brief stay.
